reflecting...This topic isn't a blind one to me.
I've researched about this before for Ms Gutierrez's class.

I can still remember it...
I had read so much things from the library, and there I was, in the hospital beside my mother's bed, writing about it.

Supposedly, it would be a major composition.
We never passed it. Quite sad, I worked so hard on it.
But that was all right. I had a sense of fulfillment having accomplished it.

Here I am now. Researching about martial law for Filipino class.
Tonight is going to be a sleepless one, most especially since I haven't started.
Bummer.

I have been researching though.
Reading about it flushed in a lot of emotions for me.

I remember hearing from someone--I can't quite remember who--how everybody back then cried when they heard the Philippine anthem. How--though today it has been disregarded and maybe even desecrated--it brought Filipinos to tears when it was first played the time Marcos left the Philippines.

Reading all these research materials, I tried to imagine myself in their position.
I would've cried too.

It seems like it was such a great day to be a Filipino.
How after such a long period of turmoil, of hate, of confusion you finally attain freedom.
How you finally realize you're free.

“We Americans like to think we taught the Filipinos democracy; well, tonight they are teaching the world.”
- Bob Simon, CBS Anchorman
